Children's Portraits - Eyelash shots!

I love taking children's photos - babies, toddlers, and kids of all ages. In the last year or so, I have found myself getting this shot of almost every child I photograph!

Initially it started because we always have toys to interest kids, so they are ALWAYS looking down. Rather than spend more time trying to coerce them into looking at the camera, I have started to enjoy this time - maybe a pause in the action, when they are happy and engaged, and I start focusing on those eyelashes! Maybe this will become the Beaton Photography Signature Shot? Here are a few recent "eyelash" shots!

Riley's 4 month old portraits....

Riley came into the studio with her parents, grandparents, and two uncles, and I was so impressed at how LOVED this little adorable Riley is! There were times that there were 5 or 6 adults behind me trying to make her smile and laugh and as you can tell by the photos Riley was responding! In a big way!

It's the first grandchild in the family, and it looks like a good place to be - what a lucky little girl! You can view Riley's Slideshow here.....

It really warms my heart - especially to see uncles without children who are willing to dote on their neices and nephews.... something tells me Riley's going to learn a few things from her uncles! And I guess that's going to be a plus and a minus! What a great family session!

Miles turns 9 months....

Miles was an amazing subject at his 6 month photo session, but at 9 months we added the whole family, and I think I like some of these even more!

9 months is a great age to photograph because babies are sitting up strong and really responsive, but they aren't walking yet, and can't run away from the photographer! And I loved this set of Tshirts that mom bought with the big brother, big sister theme! Adorable little family!

Baby Brayden - 4 months old!

Some good friends of mine, Tamara and Loy, just had a baby in December, and I got to photograph beautiful Brayden last month at 4 months old! I love photographing babies in their own homes....where they are the most comfortable!

Baby Portraits at Christmas for Elijah..........

Elijah came back to the studio this month for more baby portraits.....he was in for his 6 Month Portraits earlier this year and is cute as ever since he turned one!

We had lots of props and stimulation, including a set of balloons in the studio, his dog came in for portraits, and I love the ones where he's riding piggyback on the dog. And then the few with the dog alone with Santa and the reindeer antlers are precious! (that was during a moment that Elijiah was running off somewhere & the dog was the most willing subject at that moment!)

Taylor is 6 months old!

I love photographing babies! Especially happy babies like Taylor! She never once cried or even fussed and she was under the lights for a full hour! She even has a cute little habit of nodding her head energetically, implying, "YES, YES, YES!" I could have photographed her all day long!

As it gets close to the holidays, I get to dig out some festive things, santa hats and reindeer antlers....sometimes they work and sometimes they don't! But Taylor did pretty well with them!
