Children's Portraits - Eyelash shots!

I love taking children's photos - babies, toddlers, and kids of all ages. In the last year or so, I have found myself getting this shot of almost every child I photograph!

Initially it started because we always have toys to interest kids, so they are ALWAYS looking down. Rather than spend more time trying to coerce them into looking at the camera, I have started to enjoy this time - maybe a pause in the action, when they are happy and engaged, and I start focusing on those eyelashes! Maybe this will become the Beaton Photography Signature Shot? Here are a few recent "eyelash" shots!

Breakfast with Santa Saturday in Frisco

I had the pleasure of photographing the annual "Breakfast with Santa" at Toscato Restaurant in Frisco Saturday morning.

What I love is all those little faces - so curious and innocent.... pointing fingers at Prancer.... all of them just in awe!






Andd these little boys just made me smile - more interested in the beautiful boots and bells on Santa than in the story he was telling.... they kept touching the bells softly... like they were magic! Maybe they are?

Welcome Baby Mason James Ramey!

Baby Mason James joined the Ramey family on October 6th, 2009. I was lucky enough to be able to photograph him at just 3 days old - what a cutie! His brother Donovan has always been a photogenic little guy - and it looks like Mason is going to follow in his footsteps!

Riley's 4 month old portraits....

Riley came into the studio with her parents, grandparents, and two uncles, and I was so impressed at how LOVED this little adorable Riley is! There were times that there were 5 or 6 adults behind me trying to make her smile and laugh and as you can tell by the photos Riley was responding! In a big way!

It's the first grandchild in the family, and it looks like a good place to be - what a lucky little girl! You can view Riley's Slideshow here.....

It really warms my heart - especially to see uncles without children who are willing to dote on their neices and nephews.... something tells me Riley's going to learn a few things from her uncles! And I guess that's going to be a plus and a minus! What a great family session!

Cheddar and Friends

I had an opportunity to photograph Jacob's kittens, Cheddar, Izzie, and siblings today.... even though Jacob wasn't home! It was a riot! The kittens are just 6 weeks old, and all of them have homes already. I can't stay away from these things!

All the adults and kids are pretty excited about the kittens, but you can tell that Joe, the dog, isn't interested whatsoever! He can't get away fast enough!

Lili's Three Year Old Portraits at the Park

I'm learning to meet two and three year olds for portraits where they are most comfortable - at the park! There is just so much variety and stimulation, they never get bored! I used to recommend meeting somewhere else and ENDING at the park, but sometimes starting at the park is great, like this shoot with beautiful little Lili!

We met at the Frisco Marina Park, and got lots of photos on her favorite thing, the swings, but then I love as the rain came in, her mom had this great red raincoat, I had a purple umbrella in my car, and the flowers were really amazing! I love these kind of shoots!
