Another AMAZING successful fundraiser for CF - Bash at the Basin!
Last night was the 1st Annual Bash at the Basin - a fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis. Xtreme skiers, Jossi and Byron Wells, and olympic ski champion Jake Fiala were gracious enough to attend the event and donate ski lessons which brought in thousands of dollars for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in the live auction.

The event was a smashing success - you can view the event slideshow by clicking here........

and if you dare you can view all 220 event photos here....

Thanks to Julie Charneskie for dreaming this idea up and making it a reality!
Thanks to Arapahoe Basin for hosting the event and helping us raise funds!
Thanks to Jossi and Byron Wells for all the signatures, photos, smiles, and inspiring so many of us!
Thanks to Jake Fiala for going above and beyond - when his ski lesson was at live auction and two bidders were fighting around the $800 mark, he offered a second lesson so each bidder could have a lesson with him!
Thanks to Rojos Calientes for playing the night away for us!
Thank you to all the volunteers that helped and all the attendees who donated. Thanks to all the businesses and individuals that made this a GREAT event including Peggy Hiller, Chris Rybak, Beth Walters, Cathe Sander, Julie McCluskie, Wild Ernest Sports, Columbine Sports, Podium Sports, CBS4 News, Jared Polis, Nissa Erickson, MaryPat Cropper and Ebert Childrens Clinic.

Photos Online - Rocky Mountain FlyFishing Classic for Cystic Fibrosis!
Participating in the 7th Annual Rocky Mountain FlyFishing Classic in Aspen last weekend was really a beautiful experience! And the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation raised over $43,000 towards the cure for Cystic Fibrosis!

The slideshow of the full weekend is online here....

And all 360 photos can be viewed and purchased on this Pictage website.

It is really an honor to be a part of this kind of fundraiser.... not a dry eye in the place during the presentation on Friday night by two sets of CF parents. And so many generous giving hearts! And the beauty of Aspen on a blue sky fall weekend.... next year I'm going to recruit a TEAM of photographers so we can get more river access and fishing photos!

Sponsors donors and participants include:

Taylor Creek Fly Shop - Basalt
Roaring Fork Club - Basalt
Mountain Chalet Aspen - Aspen
Redbone - Florida

2009 Great Strides Walk for Cystic Fibrosis - Mark your calendars!
This year's Great Strides Walk for Cystic Fibrosis will be held on July 11th, 2009 starting at Summit Cove Elementary School in Dillon. Registration starts at 8am and the walk starts at 9am. Kids and dogs are welcome!

We still need more walkers on the Beaton Photography Team....you can sign up by clicking the link, or you can start your own team HERE!

We have two friends, both children, who suffer from Cystic Fibrosis, and this is one of the causes that means the most to me each year.

Megan, age 9, is a local student who skiis and bikes and shares this big radiant smile daily, and she also spends hours each day taking medication and doing treatments to control her Cystic Fibrosis (CF).

The other is Owen Mueller, age 3, of Los Angeles. His grandma, Barb, is one of my great photo buddies, and she managed to walk with us in Dillon last summer, even though she lives in Illinois! It was so great to have her as part of this big day and helping us all to fight this terrible disease!

So please join us and walk with us, tell your friends, come out on July 11th and cheer us on, or donate to any of the teams that are walking! Here are a few that I know of:

My buddies Barb & Chuck Edelblute from Illinois were there in fine form....and we wore Right On Fight On T-Shirts that are a fundraiser for CFF through www.thequietlife.com.

What is Cystic Fibrosis (CF) ????
Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is something that two of my dear friends and their children and grandchildren are dealing with on a day to day basis.

CF is a disease. CF is a disease that attacks the lungs of an innocent child, and makes it difficult and sometimes impossible to breathe. CF is a genetic disease that effects over 30,000 people in the US. In the 1950's these children rarely lived to attend elementary school. But with the help of organizations like the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and modern medicine, the average estimated lifespan is now 37 years. And is increasing every year! More information about the disease can be found HERE.

CF is something that Megan, at age 8, faces daily and requires her to take 40 pills a day and do treatments twice daily. CF interferes with her ability to ski and mountain bike, yet her beautiful smile always shines through!

CF is something that Owen was diagnosed with at 6 months.....and requires his parents to do treatments for hours each day, to make sure he can breathe easily the next day. Owen's grandma, Barb, introduced me to CF last year. A disease I wish I had never met!

But together, we can all make a difference! There are more drug therapies being discovered daily that help CF patients! And
